Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - great budget heart rate monitor
It is crucial that you have a lot of good quality batteries for the sensor transmitter....if not, you will have decreased range of transmission, faulty heart rate readings and shorter usage times....

I got cheap 8 packs of the batteries and I wear the monitor for 30 minute runs....after 2 weeks, I went through all my batteries....

The monitor will still work, but the range is decreased and I get faulty readings...

You have to put a conductive gel or just sweat a little on your chest in order to have adequate heart rate pickup by the sensor...

otherwise, it does what it says it will do for a good price

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - no heart rate displayed
I did not managed to obtain any display of heart rate. I checked the battery; ok, nothing to do but send it back and try to find one in store.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - It really works!
When I ordered this, I really wasn't too sure if it would do what they said it would but I was pleasantly pleased when it did!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Can't beat it for the price
At first, I thought I had made a mistake by purchasing this unit as opposed to the Timex heart rate monitor that's advertised here at Amazon. The problem was that I was initially getting mixed results with the heart rate reading when going for a bike ride. What I discovered was that if you use a little bit of Aloe Vera Gel on the transmitter 'contact points', it will instantly solve the problem. Other than this initial issue, it has been a great training tool and I highly recommend it for any one requiring a basic heart rate monitor.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Works just fine
Works as advertised. I've had no problems with it. I haven't tried swimming with it on, but the watch and chest strap are each water resistant enough to handle being rinsed off in the sink after exercising. It's easy to to get used to wearing it; it's not uncomfortable.

No one has commented, but I suspect that from the back it looks as though I'm wearing a bra underneath my t-shirt.

I am very pleased with my purchase.

Sun Microsystems has announced plans to cut between 5,000 and 6,000 jobs — that's between 15 and 18 percent of its workforce.

"It blamed the cuts on the global economic downturn, but I think that like many other companies, Sun is using the downturn as an excuse for what were pre-existing problems, foretold by its stock price, which seems to be in an unending swoon," suggests GigaOM's Om Malik.

"How much has Sun spent to develop Solaris or Java?" asks InfoWorld's Neil McAllister. "How much must it continue to invest in maintaining other products, which, despite being open source, have no appreciable development community? To say these products are not loss leaders suggests something akin to Hollywood accounting."

The answer? "Spin off Java," McAllister added in a later post. "Just get rid of it — farm it out to an industry consortium and let the companies that depend upon it manage it..."

More here from CNET News ... more here from the Guardian ... more here from ZDNet ... more here from TG Daily ... and the press release is here.
